Bruton Music was founded in 1997 and took its name from the street where the company was founded: Bruton Street in London. The company’s founder, Robin Phillps, who had left ATV music to start the venture. The company is formally known as the Bruton Music Library, and began as a subsidiary label to ATV. The company was, at one time, owned by the late pop music icon Michael Jackson. Bruton music has reportedly maintained a strong cult following over the years, and continues to be downloaded digitally, in particularly among those who follow electronic music and hip. Bruton’s artists include Francis Monkman and Brian Bennett.
