Indoor rowing training is all about power and endurance and if you have ever tried rowing to maximum output then you should understand what going through the pain barrier is all about.  Competitive rowing is tough and to get to the top you have to train smart and hard.  Training can be broken down into 4 main areas and these are maximum power, anaerobic trainingy, aerobic training and endurance.

Maximum power training is short bursts of exercise at set intervals and as the name suggest rowing at maximum.  Anaerobic training, which means training without oxygen and relying on your lactate system is high level output not quite at maximum probably 90% of maximum power and aerobic training is longer duration 2000 metres at around 65% of maximum effort and endurance training is anything over 5000 metres at around 50% maximum output.
