Founded in 1969, the Project Management Institute (PMI) has been championing the profession of project management for the past forty years. PMI offers numerous avenues for building the credentials of the Project Management Professional (PMP). Pmi pmp certification is one of the main offerings of the group. In order to qualify for certification, a project manager must have high school diploma, five years of project management experience and 35 hours of project management education or a college degree, three years of project management experience and 35 hours of project management education. In either event, one must sit for an exam that has 200 questions and lasts about four hours. The exam costs $405 for PMI members.
